On 18, 19 and 20 August 2023, in La Tour-de-Sçay (France) it took place the European BikeTrial Championship 2023. 137 participants showed up at the start, here's how it went the event !
La Tour-de-Sçay has always been a perfect place for BikeTrial and also this time the organizers, the BTFC Club, led by the Remy family with its many collaborators, he has done a commendable job. The small French town has been amicably invaded by the big family of the European Riders, with the pleasant surprise of two new friends from Chile. 13 Nations registered for the event: United Kingdom, Netherland, Germany, Czech Republic, Belgium, Poland, Slovakia, Romania, Italy, France, Catalunya, Spain and Chile, deployed in groups B/H and A. The former raced on Saturday, the latter on Sunday.
A great party, a really successful event!
On Friday, the preliminary operations took place, control of zones by the jury, last upgrade to the sections, already perfectly prepared by Morgan (thank you Morgan, you did an excellent job!) registration of participants and opening ceremony. As always, the opening ceremony was a moment of aggregation, where all the participants together honored the teams, the flags and the national anthems presented. An important part of the BikeTrial traditions. Small refreshments for everyone and then to sleep for tomorrow's race.
Saturday 8 natural sections to be repeated 2 times, have been set up for group B/H, the first competitor of the Under 10 category started at 10:30 a.m. with 6 hours, 30 minutes and 30 minuteds penalized available to finish the race. In a short time the 112 participants from Group B and H began the path that saw them engaged below on a sunny day but sheltered by the forest overlooking the areas. The analysis of the rankings, which you can find at the link below, they show us a balanced and demanding race, where the most experienced prevailed and where the rookies were able to learn and improve for the next times. Gemma Abant from Catalunya, Matyas Burianek from Czech Republic, Jordi Sala Hernandez from Catalunya , Pablo Coronado Hernandez from Spain, Morgan Remy from France, Tomas Schmidt from Slovakia and Ralf Hesse from Germany they went on the top step of the podium. Congratulations to them and to all the participants in the group B and H.
Sunday 8 natural sections to be repeated 3 times for the Group A: Class 3, Class 2 and Class 1, the most difficult category of BikeTrial. It is difficult for the jury to understand how high the level of our Riders actually is, the zones seem impossible but these champions manage to overcome increasingly difficult natural obstacles every time. Long sections, with exhausting series of technical and physical passages, where riding skills prevail over physical performance, the best school of the BikeTrial as Original Sport, the one that must define who rides better, not the strongest. A really exciting race played until the last section in a passionate challenge between Louis Grillon and Jonas Friedrich which saw the latter prevail for only one penalty. A parade that kept the whole audience in suspense and that will remain in the memory of all those present. Very good guys! Vojtech Hendrych from Czech Republic conquer the Class 3, Rene Vymetal from Czech Republic the Class 2 and Jonas Friedrich from Germany the Class 1, they are the new European BikeTrial champions.
Nation category was won by the Czech Republic with a total or 155 points, second Catalunya, third France, follow Germany, Slovakia, Italy, United Kingdom, Spain, Belgium, Netherland, Chile, Poland.
All that remains is to congratulate the organizers, the collaborators and the BikeTrial International Union again, we understood that the event was appreciated by everyone, This is our best satisfaction, we hope to meet again next year.
A strong hug from all the participants to Mrs. Josiane.
