On Sunday, May 11 2025, the European BikeTrial Cup 2025 took place at the Bob MacGregor Trials Academy in Dunlop, Scotland, held on a single date, let's see how it went.

BikeTrial Scottish Union wanted to bring back an international BikeTrial competition to the UK, after 9 years since the good experience in Elton in 2016. David Johnston and his entire team have worked hard to organize a truly successful event, congratulations to all the people who collaborated in the organization, you were perfect.

Trial has its deepest roots in Scotland, and for this reason, the experience was profound and evocative. Consider that the Trial area where the race took place is dedicated to Bob MacGregor, winner of the first edition of the 6 Days of Scotland in 1932 and also in 1935. This is truly the history of Trial.
The Bob MacGregor Trial area is much larger than it may seem from the photographs, with significant altimetric changes, natural rocks, and other types of obstacles that allow for the creation of excellent zones. David and his collaborators have created some truly beautiful, calibrated, and 100% natural zones, as it should be in BikeTrial. Really a great job, thank you!
There was also a convenient catering service and the Scottish weather gave us two days of sunshine.

A thank you also goes to the sponsors who assisted the organizer; very visible and appreciated advertising spaces were set up for each of them. Also celebrities like Danny MacAskill and others were present throughout the duration of the event.

Athletes from 4 nations presented themselves at the start: United Kingdom, Catalunya, Slovakia, and Italy, divided into two groups B and A, which competed first in the morning and then in the afternoon. During the competition, thanks to a separate ranking that included Scottish athletes, the first edition of the Scottish BikeTrial Championship also took place, an excellent initiative carried out with conviction by the organization, definitely a success that we hope can be replicated every year in the future. In the morning, the categories of group B and H started, competing in six zones for two laps, finishing the first part perfectly on time; at 2:30 PM, group A with Classes 3, 2, and 1, the most challenging, began.

The absolute winner is Oliver Weightman, who showed a sublime, confident, and fast performance. he will be the athlete to compete with in these years. The complete rankings are available at this link.

In the past, the European Cup was the testing ground to evaluate the organizational potential of a debutant nation. We can say that the test has been more than passed: well done! We recommend everyone to visit these places where the Trial is at home. We sincerely hope to return to these places with even more participants and the certainty of finding excellent organization in every aspect.
